Little Stinkers

I had some friends over Thursday and we all had a lot of fun.

Here, Mia and Maizie are playing with their food and building a pile of Mac n' Cheese for Ally to come eat.

Ryan went to town on the spaghetti and we were all impressed with Kim's commitment to letting the boy get messy! So cute!

Ryan pushing "baby" Luc in Maizie's doll stroller. I smell blackmail material here later, guys!

Picture Update

I think you could entitle this picture, "Why I love Jason"

Love this shot of my two in grey.

I came home from a quick errand to find Anderson in a bumbo having a good time. Made me sad that he's already old enough for one of these already. My babay! My babay!

Twinkies

Ryan and Anderson showed up to Thursday lunch in the same outfit, so we had to get a pic. Ryan is thinking, "Just who does this baby think he is and why is he wearing my overalls?"

Recent Discoveries

1. Flight of the Conchords.
If you like random, dry, New Zealand-type humor, and horrible (but hilarious) train-of-thought songwriting then this is the show for you. My favorite song so far is the Robot Rap. Especially when they decide to go "binary" on the humans. 00001111. 0000011111.

2. Austin's Magic 95.5
In the two years since we've moved to Austin, our car radio has been tuned to AM 590, (Jason's obnoxious talk station), NPR (my obnoxious talk station), or 94.7 (this obnoxious pop station). After hearing the "umbrella" song and the "wee-ooo" song 3 times in one hour, I hit the tuner and it landed on 95.5. The first three songs were Marvin Gaye, Edie Brickel and Chicago. GLORIOUS!

3. My Disease has a Name!
Koumpounophobia. The fear of buttons. Apparantly it is "very common" and I am no longer ashamed. Though it doesn't qualify as a full-blown phobia, I've never been a fan of buttons. When you asked me why when I was little, I'd say they taste funny. And they do. And they smell. To my credit, I've gotten over it when it comes to my kids. They wear buttons all the time. I'll just warn them not to taste them...

4. Potty Power! DVD
So horribly made, it's HILARIOUS. It features a woman whose voice sounds like Glenda the Good Witch, a bunch of 6 year olds using toddler potties with 80s green-screen graphics behind them, and ALSO an animated roll of toilet paper! Potty POWER!

Vote for Anderson '09

I need to pick a pic of Anderson for the baby dedication at church next month. I'm notoriously horrible at making decisions, so maybe you guys can help me out. Which one should I go with?

A. Close up on the baby blues.

B. A whole-body "Whatcha talkin' about Willis" shot.

C. My little train conductor.

D. Santa's little elf.

6 Weeks

We've had a really great weekend here celebrating Anderson's 6 weeks on earth. Jason's sister, Amy, and her two daughters, Cecily and Ensley, surprised us Friday night with a visit to meet the little man. Jason's parents came, too, and we had a great visit. Maizie got more dishes for her kitchen and worked the entire weekend making sure everyone had plenty of coffee and tea.

I took a bunch of shots of Anderson this morning the same way I took Maizie's picture at 6 weeks. I found a few to compare. They definitely look like brother and sister, but definitely not identical!

The Definition of Slaphappy

Slaphappy.
Pronunciation: ˈslap-ˌha-pē
Part of speech: adjective
Definition: Maizie after bed time on the way home from seeing her cousins.
Example: See below.

My MeeMaw

I have quite a bit of posting to do today, but I first wanted to write a few words about my grandma, Betty Frost, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 83. Some of my fondest childhood memories took place in her house, from putting on performances with my cousins, to Rockwell-esque holiday meals, and playing Pictionary, Albert, Skip-Bo and more. She made me say "Yes, ma'am" and "No, Sir", always got dressed up to go "to town", and made me feel absolutely and completely loved. Since Anderson is still so young, I don't think we're going to make it to Arkansas for the funeral, but please keep my family in your prayers as we remember a wonderful, faithful woman this week.

Playing Together, Future Therapy Topic, First Night, and Finished Room!

In other words, this is a miscellaneous post...
Most people are curious about how Maizie is adjusting to the new addition. Overall, she's doing great! She is very serious about taking care of her baby brother. This week, I got out the floor gym for Anderson since he's having more awake time. Maizie immediately staked her claim on it, saying, "I'm the baby!" But she was quick to share with Anderson and then decided to add even more babies to the mix. So, here's the first official shot of my children playing together. Can't wait to see more of it as they grow up together.
Last week, I had just finished feeding Anderson and Maizie asked to hold him. I forget that she is in the mimic stage. And I wonder how they're both going to feel about this picture when I show it to their college sweethearts.
We decided to venture out on New Year's Eve for First Night, Austin's funky New Year's celebration. There are art exhibits all day long and then they burn a wooden clocktower, play a bunch of music and shoot fireworks at midnight. We only stayed until 9, but then we couldn't find our bus and wandered downtown Austin (with Jason carrying Maizie and Anderson because my stitches were hurting) for an hour looking for our busstop. We felt like Mary and Joseph looking for a room at the inn. Other than that, it was a lot of fun and Maizie is still talking about how she rode in a bus and Daddy told her that she had to sit. Here is Amanda holding the little man at his first Austin outing.
And here is a shot (finally) of Anderson's Room. Pretty simple, but I think he likes it. And you've got to love his collection of tiny shoes on the dresser.

Cousins!

Jason's sister, husband, and 3 girls stopped by on their way home from Colorado this weekend. Maizie and Anderson enjoyed hanging out with their closest cousins.
Maizie and Brooke--two weeks apart and both enjoying the BABY floor gym.
Maizie and Megan being goofy at the restaurant.
Anderson and Katelyn--closest cousins by age, but definitely far apart in size. Can you believe they're just 6 months apart?
The Five Youngest of the George clan. Yes, 4 girls and a boy. Anderson will have his work cut out for him. We missed seeing their 8 older cousins this Christmas, but hope to see them all soon.

Christmas Cheer

Stockings were hung o'er the TV with care...

Maizie's big present--a kitchen Jason and I made her from an old kitchen cabinet from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. My family helped round out her kitchen collection and she has been cooking us meals ever since.

The day after Christmas, Maizie made a FEAST for her baby dolls' birthday, complete with a loud rendention of "Happy Day Day!" and horse as the main course (look closely).
On the Saturday after Christmas we had ANOTHER haul of gifts. Maizie played "Santa" and brought all the gifts to the right people. She was excited about every gift given and received. My favorite moment was when my cousin, Brian, opened up a package and Maizie screamed, "PANTS! You got pants!"
Maizie also thought it was fun to put all the bows on Mommy.
All in all, it was a very blessed time. I'm so glad my family came in from all over the country to be with us and spoil us rotten!

One Month Old

It's really hard to believe that our wee one is a whole month old today. He's changed so much over the past month. And he's an AWESOME sleeper. He's only waking up between ZERO and THREE times each night. Yes, he's already slept through the night a few times. It's glorious. He's fitting right in with our little family and it already feels like always had him with us. One BIG milestone to report. He's been giving us big smiles as he drifts off to sleep since he was born, but this weekend, he looked right into my eyes and gave me the goofiest, sweetest little smile I've ever seen. Here are some shots of our little man.
Cuddled up on daddy.

Gotta love those baby blues.
