Pumpkin Patch Visit

So, we've had a busy week! In the span of 7 days, we have a new house, Jason has a new job, and we have a new 2-year-old! I only know how to post 4 pics at a time through Picassa, so I'm just gonna post a whole bunch for your viewing pleasure.

We went to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm to take a break from moving and to celebrate Maizie's birthday. She wasn't quite sure about the hay ride, but she came around for the second half of the ride.

She had fun playing on this marrooned boat with daddy.

What's cooler than seeing some chickens and ducks?

Here's the only picture I got with the pumpkins. There was too much going on to stay still for long.

Here's the rules:

Grab the nearest book.Open the book to page 56. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST. Tag five other people to do the same.

So, I was packing up the last two books we had out from the bathroom and thought I should go ahead and fulfill my tag from Myra. Here's my quote from "The Best American Short Stories of the Century". This excerpt is from The Golden Honeymoon by Ring Lardner:

"So they got another lady and kept on playing and soon Mrs. Hartsell was the one everybody was laughing at, as she had a long shot to hit the black ball, and as she made the effort her teeth fell out on to the court. I never seen a woman so flustered in all my life. And I never heard so much laughing, only Mrs. Hartsell didn't join in and she was madder than a hornet and wouldn't play no more, so the game broke up."

Since most of you Austinites have been tagged, I'll send a shout out to my ol' College Station and Denver cronies. I tag: Angela R., Jennifer T., Sarah N., Irma W.

And Counting...

Today is October 10th.

2 months until we meet our baby boy.
10 days until our baby girl is 2 years old.
5 days until we close on our brand new house.

Today is a good day.

Un-stupid Maizie Tricks

Here's a cute video of Maizie's latest tricks. And, no, I didn't teach her "hook 'em horns." I've been screaming "Let's Go Blue!" at her and the Wolverines for the past two years, but it doesn't seem to sink in.

Toddlerin'

Lots going on in the wide world of George. Mainly, we close on our house 2 weeks from today! We go to pick up the refugee family today and get them settled in their apartment. Then our attentions can turn to getting us settled in our new place! Anyway, I found just enough time to post a few pics of Maizie & Co. for your viewing pleasure.

Bubbles

Thursday morning, Maizie had a 30-minute episode we shall entitle "The Great I WANT JUICE Tantrum of 2008". To finally put it to a rest, I used the last weapon in my mommy arsenal--bubbles. I think the pictures say it all.

Why You Should Never Accept Invitations from the Georges

We asked Grant (aka FancyPants) and Amanda over last weekend and then promptly put them straight to work. Amanda gave Maizie her first haircut. It was driving me crazy with its scraggliness. Now it's even and cute! Maizie would freak out anytime I cam at her with the scissors, but she did great while Amanda worked her magic. Thanks, Amanda!

Next we made them help us remove our old guest bed and bring in Maizie new "big girl" bed. Jason and I made it for her (bed rails to come) and I have to say she's pretty pleased so far.

The we "forced" Grant to read her one of the longest books we have. Actually, Maizie took her night-night book directly to him cuz she knows a sucker when she sees one.

Just fair warning of what's in store when the Georges ask you over...
