The Current Chaos

Here's a quick update on the latest goings on for the Georges.

On Monday, Maizie woke up snotty and fussy. I had an appointment at the tire store where we were told our Mazda (the "good" car) needed 4 new tires. My cell phone's speaker stopped working and would only dial the number "4". And then on Jason's way home from work, his beloved "Festicles" took her last gulp of fresh gasoline. Let's just say the stars were not aligned. At least not the good ones anyway.

Since then, my cell phone has returned to life, we found out we only needed 1 tire, and Jason already has an eye on some possible replacements for the Festiva, though we know no one could possibly fill her 12-inch rims. A copy of the obituary is soon to come. Till then, he can bike to work since it's only 4 miles away and the weather is starting to cool. I've been driving him for different reasons this week, but I think he's looking forward to hitting the pavement like he did for all of 2007.

Maizie continues to amaze and entertain us. Right now, she loves her stuffed bear and wakes up saying, "I want beer." I promise she means "bear" but it's a little weird to hear a toddler ask for some brew first thing in the morning. She can sing most of the verses to "Wheels on the Bus" and loves to rock her baby doll and sing her to sleep. She has started praying beyond repeating what we say at night. So far, the things that have made the list she comes up with on her own are: Elmo, Daddy's shoes, Mommy's hair, Beer.

Flipper is growing right on schedule (I'm not measuring 4 weeks ahead like I was with Maizie!) and is super active. He wouldn't cooperate with the PA today when she was trying to get his heartbeat. I could feel him moving away from the doppler every time. It literally took 5 minutes to get a reading. Still no name, but I'm sure we'll figure that out in time.

In other news, we are still actively looking for a subleasor for our apartment. We've had a few people interested, but things seem to fall through. We still have some time, but it's been a challenge keeping the place clean enough to show. Our house is set to close the last week of October! And we're also in charge of setting up an apartment for a family of 8 Burmese refugees coming to the states at the end of September. Oh, and I've also been working a lot more lately. Needless to say, we have our hands full. Preschool could not have started at a better time.

Anyway, I guess I had a lot to catch up on. Here are some recent pics of Maizie, etc.

We went to Abilene to visit Jason's sister and crew over Labor Day weekend. Here is Maizie meeting a little chick they have on their land.

Here is my ultimate multi-tasker. She is 1) taking care of a baby...kinda 2) helping me cook 3) dressing herself (notice the tank top pulled over the t-shirt) and 4) drinkin' some juice.

Daddy was watching Maizie while I worked one night and Maizie decided to organize the tupperware. She was super proud of her accomplishment. I love this shot.

Maizie and Mia playing at the park. This is 1 of 20 pictures we took Monday night. In every one, one of the girls is looking away. It's pretty close to impossible to get pictures of more than one toddler at a time. I thought Mia was pretty adorable in this one...

Our latest obsession. We'd like to paint before we move in, so our house is littered with paint swatches. Fun, fun. I guess this can give you an idea of the general direction we're heading in.

Thanks for bearing with my LONG catch-up post.

I had one of those "everything went broke/wrong days" a couple of weeks ago. Not fun...but those allow you to appreciate the normal or fun days much more! Let me know when you want me to watch Maizie.....bring her over anytime!

Glad to hear your life isn't boring! Ha! We love catching up on Maizie and all her awesomeness!!! When is the funeral for the car? Maybe we will send some flowers. ;)
