Home Again, Home Again

Our trip to Maryland to be with my family was sad but sweet. The service for my uncle was filled with funny stories, a lot of laughter and some tears. It inspired me to not take anyone I love for granted, to care more for the Lord and care less about what people think about me.

God blessed us with a smooth trip (Maizie's 6th plane trip in a year!) She did so well, she even earned her wings. Here's my little flying ace.

The ultimate multi-tasker. I picture her attaching this to her resume someday...."I've been multi-tasking since I was 11 months old..."

This should make her Papa proud.

Uncle Tim

We received word last night that my favorite Uncle Tim passed away after a 2-year struggle with bladder cancer. He was a big man (6 foot 9) with an even bigger heart. Him and his wife, Anne, have been an incredible example to me of what a loving, Christian marriage looks like.

Maizie and I will be traveling to Maryland sometime this weekend to be with my family. Please pray for my Aunt Anne, my cousins, Brian and Stephen, and for safe travel for everyone.

A little magic to go along with a little logic

So we left our small group a little late with a baby who was a double threat--tired AND hungry. She started crying about 2 minutes into our 20 minute trip home. I had a headache, and this particularly shrill cry was KILLING me. In my mommy wisdom, I started pulling everything out of the diaper bag and handing it to her, bottle, paci, snacks, toys, diapers....whatever. It all got tossed and the crying only intensified. Finally, I turned to her and calmly said, "Maizie, Mommy knows you are tired and hungry. We are going home right now as fast as we can, and when we get home, mommy will feed you and put you to bed, but right now crying is not helping at all. Ok?" Instant silence for the rest of the trip home. I guess a little understanding goes a long way, even in the eyes of a 10-month-old. I can't say that will ever work again, but tonight it was like magic.

Joke of the Day, Part II

Why don't lobsters share?

Because they're shellfish!

Congrats, mom. You got it right.

Joke of the Day

Why don't lobsters share?

Try your hand at the answer or stay tuned tomorrow for the stunning conclusion to Caren's Joke of the Day. It's a good one!

Maizie's New Loves

I kind of went picture crazy on our Michigan trip, so I've been taking a break. Here are some pics from some of my friends' cameras:

Yes, she's licking the glass. I guess she REALLY loves china. I love that she's standing on tip toes in her ballerina onesie.

Mom, not now! I'm busy making out with this china cabinet!

Maizie's first pony ride at our future homestead. She was holding on so tight that I barely had to hold her at all. I guess we'll just have to get her a pony for her first birthday. And, yes, I'm wearing a Michigan Football shirt. And, no, I don't want to talk about it.
