Two Weeks

My little man went to his two week appointment today. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 7 oz., more than a pound over birth weight! I thought I'd share this photo that shows off his little buddha belly. So happy that he is healthy and growing like a weed!

Merry Christmas!

Well, I was going to wait to share these until the holidays, but I couldn't wait. And, I think I've decided that I should do things as I think of them or otherwise they won't get done.

Our SECOND ever Christmas tree! Maizie was so excited when she woke up one morning last week and saw it. She kept saying, "Thank you, Daddy!"

The cutest little elves in the whole world.

Sleepy Dwarf.

My Little Scrooge. This is what happened when the photographer asked her to make a sad face. Yes, dress by Aunt Jodi, again!

My little stocking stuffer.

Maizie was a rock star at holding Anderson, but he was done with his 15 minutes of fame at this point. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Maizie's Turn

Maizie really loves the concept of taking turns, especially when it is her turn. She is in Michigan this week, getting some grandparent spoiling stored up. But I couldn't blog about Anderson without giving her a turn!

Here she is taking care of her baby (while watching Nemo) of course. In case you're wondering, that's how all babies like to wear their hats nowadays.

"Tool time" with Daddy.

Helping Nana make a cake for Daddy's Birthday!

Eating the gingerbread cookies Mia made her for Christmas. Yum! Yum!

The Many Faces of Anderson

He seems to be saying "Why Me?"

Once again..."Why Me?"

I think in this one he's thinking, "Why Me?"

And in this one, he's definitely thinking, "Does anyone else out there think I look like Andy Rooney?"

Anderson's First Days

If you have four minutes to spare...

He Has Arrived!

Anderson Therris George was born yesterday, December 5, at 11:37 a.m.

He weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz and was 19.75 inches long. He has the most adorable patch of blonde hair I've ever seen, super cute grumpy faces and generally looks like a 90-year-old man in a 1-day-old's body. If I could've custom-ordered a baby boy, Anderson would be it.

Anderson is Jason's Mom's maiden name and it generally means "manly" (insert Tim Allen grunts here) or "son of the manly one" to be precise (insert Jason grunts here). If three syllables becomes to cumbersome to say, we plan to call him "Dre". You may attempt to call him Andy, Sonny, Derson, or Anders, but I may bark at you. Just a warning.

Here is Maizie meeting her baby brother. She is very curious and very sweet to her baby brother. I can't wait to watch them grow and play together. My friends stepped up to the plate and watched her Friday and my mom and mom-in-law rearranged their busy weekends to come take care of her and meet their new grandson.

Here's the hostess shot from the shower Thursday night (thanks, Noelle, Kim, Tanya, Jessica and Sarah!). The shower featured a yummy candy buffet and we got a CRAZY amount of diapers and lots of cute little old man clothes to go with our little old man. It really was perfect timing to spend the night before Anderson's arrival surrounded by friends. Thanks for making what could've been a stressful night a really fun one!

The Boy Will Come Out....

....TOMORROW!

Really. I went to the doctor today and I had a few symptoms of preeclampsia (however you spell that), so she didn't really wanting me chancing it over the weekend. Tomorrow is the birthday of Jason's Granny Anderson, who passed away this year, so it's a special day for our family. Plus, I'm nerdy and think that it's cool that his birthday will be a math equation: 12-05=08. Told you I'm nerdy. UPDATE: Ok, nerdy in a "I don't do simple math" sort of way! Apparently, 12-05=07. Let's just blame this one on the "gonna have a baby in less than 24 hours" brain!

Tonight is his baby shower, so it's coming just in time. Thanks in advance to all my sweet friends and family who are helping take care of Maizie and everything else with this unexpected change. I feel truly blessed. Off to pack for the hospital! Pray for a safe delivery and a happy, healthy baby.

Two Year Pictures

No bumps, bruises, scratches or snotty noses meant I could finally take Maizie in for her 2-year pictures this morning. Dress courtesy of Aunt Jodi (again)! She refused to sit for these at first but after the photographer took some of her 8.75-months pregnant mom sitting on her little chair, she decided she wanted in on the fun. We might be back later in the week for some Christmas photos, but I'm just happy we got through these! Enjoy.

Two Weeks and Singing

So long time no blog. This has been a whirlwind month and then I woke up this morning to realize we'll be meeting our baby boy TWO WEEKS from tomorrow! Unbelievable. I spent the day yesterday arranging his clothes and that helped it seem more real, but I think I'm still mostly in denial that we will soon be a family of 4.

Maizie has been so fun (and a teensy bit challenging) lately. She makes us proud and makes us laugh out loud every day. She also finds a way to test us every day. Her list of things she wants to do herself is growing and includes turning on and off the fan, the fish tank light, our living room light, getting in and out of the car, getting anything out of the fridge and putting groceries on the belt. Anyway, enough chatter. Here's one cute pic and one adorable vidya. Enjoy.

We've been living at IKEA lately. Here she is enjoying her favorite meatball dinner.

And she is an amazing singer, if I do say so myself. If you can get her in a performing mood, she will sing "Happy Birthday" "Twinkle, Twinkle" "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" or "Ice, Ice Baby". Your choice. Here she is singing happy birthday to my good friend emilie.

My Daughter, The Spy

A quick tale of life with a 2-year-old.

So, Maizie wakes up from a nap last week and I feel her diaper and notice that it felt dry, but there seemed to be a "brick" of some sort inside. I was feeling bad for the struggle she must have endured laying it. So, I put her on the changing table, undid her diaper and discovered...a cell phone. She has been picking one toy and one book to go to bed with. The toy cell phone was obviously not safe to be left to roam free on the bed, so she put it away for safe-keeping. We caught her later that day trying to use her diaper as a "pocket" and quickly found some pants pockets to help channel her hoarding habit.

I'm not sure what new quirk she'll come up with next, but it truly, truly never gets boring.

Halloween

So, another fan of Picassa 3 is born. I had too many images from Halloween to post them all, so I created a little video. Quick and easy!

It was an eventful day. First, she had a Fall Festival at school, where she mainly loved playing with the rubber duckies and could not understand why she couldn't eat the candy prizes right away. After nap, we met the Robertsons for some Mueller Halloween fun at the park and knocked on 3 or 4 doors. Maizie was pretty shy, but we think she got the gist of what was going on. At one point, she emptied her entire bucket into the candy bucket at one house. Very generous, that girl. After trick-or-treating, our "young and free" friends stopped by to change for a night of Halloween fun on 6th street. It was fun to see them get all tricked out, but Maizie ended up having nightmares, probably due to some Zombies she saw roaming her kitchen earlier that night. All in all, a full and fun day for our little bee.

Halloween Lunch

We got the kiddos and mommos together for a little lunch today at Nancy's house and had them wear their costumes. Check out the cute pics below.

All animals with a little fairy dust sprinkled in for good measure.

Mia after getting caught with the frosting spreader! Too cute.

Seriously. Can you imagine anything more sweet than Ryan Pollard in his frog costume?

Oh, and here's my child. This is the moment of realization that Mom really isn't going to allow her to eat the sprinkles straight from the bowl.

I think we're going to officially call this Maizie's "transition" week, because she's been out of sorts all week long. We went to the Dr. on Monday and she FREAKED OUT. She wouldn't even let them get her height. The Dr. was examining her and asking me development questions. He asked about her language and before I could answer, Maizie told him, "Bye, Bye, Doctor. No Sir! Diaper On!" He said, "Well, that answers that!" I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have such a healthy (and generally happy) child. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for the pleasure of being her mom. It definitely never gets boring.

Buzzy Body

Once upon a time, a little girl named Maizie was afraid of her Halloween costume. The good fairy grandma swooped into town and waved her magic wand and now we can't get her out of it. Here she is reading, counting and buzzing in her new favorite outfit.

We have a BIG GIRL!

Movin' On Up

Ok, so I don't have a ton of house pictures. I should've taken some with the house empty, but now it is strewn with boxes. I'll post some pics when things are closer to how I want them. Everything went really well with closing and the move. BIG THANKS goes out to my parents for coming in from Michigan to help paint and watch Maizie, to Jason's sister, husband and 5 kids for signing up for a weekend of manual labor, and to our Young Marrieds friends for making move day happen so quickly and painlessly. We could not have done it without all the help!

Here we are getting our keys and trying to look ceremonious about it.

Jason painted ceilings for 2 days straight. So now I can think of him whenever I look up.

Maizie in front of "Maizie's house." She's done really well adjusting to the new place. She loves going up and down the stairs to put her babies to bed and then to go wake them up. All that work has worn her out and makes for great nap times and bed times! She's really been a trooper through all of the change. Hopefully little brother's arrival is just as smooth.

A new addition to the family. We finally gave Maizie her birthday present from us last night. It was hiding in a box, so it missed her actual day. "Kitty" quickly joined the ranks of Maizie's other babies and has already gone for a ride in the baby stroller and on the baby swing. Kitty purrs and meows and came with a bottle that Maizie likes to gnaw on.

The Face

Here's what happens when we ask Maizie to make "the face." Pretty much the cutest, grumpiest face ever.

Ok, this isn't "the face" - just a cute picture of Maizie in Nana's glasses.

Birthday Fun!

Birthday evening was a lot of fun. Mia and Ally stopped by and the three girls went on a quick wagon ride around the block.

Nana and Papa got her some baby dolls. Here she is hugging them to death.

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!" Is there any better way to enter two-ness than with a good ol' fashioned tantrum in the middle of Red Robin?

All better. Here's Maizie enjoying her birthday sundae.
